I am a researcher and educator, currently working as an assistant professor and holding the Endowed Professorship for the Studies of the Americas at Le Moyne College.
My first book, El Cine Latinoamericano del desencanto (The Latin American Cinema of Disenchantment, Ediciones ICAIC, 2018), explores contemporary Mexican, Argentinean, Cuban, and Brazilian films that propose new forms of Latin Americanism, centered on the experiences of subaltern communities. Currently, I am working on a second book about the interplay of film and tourism to reflect on the erotic consumption of Latin America.
Broadly speaking, my research focuses on intersectional issues of marginalization. I have written articles covering film, literature, visual arts, and music. Additionally, I regularly write film reviews.
I teach courses on Latin American literature and film, as well as the Spanish language. Currently, I am organizing global film screenings for my academic community in Syracuse, New York, and producing Spanish grammar videos for my students, with plans to share them on YouTube soon.
I also enjoy learning about biology, medicine, and the natural sciences.
